Corkery Smith Ltd is committed to operating responsibly and sustainably across all demolition and related activities. This Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Policy sets out our approach to managing environmental impact, supporting people, and maintaining high standards of governance and ethical behaviour.
We recognise our responsibility to clients, employees, supply chain partners, the wider community, and the environment, and we aim to continuously improve our ESG performance in line with industry best practice.
1. Scope
This policy applies to:
- All demolition, strip-out, asbestos removal, site clearance, and associated works
- Directors, employees, agency staff, and subcontractors
- Suppliers and partners working on our behalf
2. Environmental Responsibility
As a demolition contractor, we acknowledge that our activities can have a significant environmental impact. We are committed to minimising this impact through responsible planning and management.
Our commitments include:
- Maximising reuse, recycling, and recovery of demolition materials where practicable
- Compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and permit requirements
- Proper segregation and lawful disposal of waste
- Minimising dust, noise, vibration, and emissions on site
- Responsible handling of hazardous materials, including asbestos
- Use of environmentally responsible suppliers and licensed waste carriers
- Promoting efficient use of fuel, energy, and resources
Environmental risks are assessed as part of project planning and site-specific risk assessments.

We expect subcontractors and suppliers to uphold similar ethical standards.
5. Supply Chain Responsibility
We seek to work with suppliers and subcontractors who:
- Operate legally and responsibly
- Comply with health, safety, environmental, and employment legislation
- Hold appropriate licences, accreditations, and insurances
Due diligence is carried out proportionately, particularly in relation to subcontract labour and waste management.
6. Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
- Monitoring performance where reasonably practicable
- Reviewing incidents, near misses, and non-conformances
- Identifying opportunities for improvement
- Periodic review of this policy
7. Responsibilities
The Directors and COO have overall responsibility for this policy and for ensuring ESG considerations are embedded within the business. All employees and those working on our behalf are expected to comply with this policy and support its objectives.
8. Review
This policy will be reviewed periodically and updated as necessary to reflect changes in legislation, industry standards, or business operations.
